The unit shipped in two boxes and arrived direct from the manufacturer in good condition and well packed. Assembly was performed without help on a fold out table in the garage. There were only a few minor imperfections (dings, scratches) here and there but nothing major. You should plan for 5-6 hours total for assembling both the base and the hutch. As with most flat packed kits there are pilot holes for the self tapping wood screws and most were spot on. Quality is a step above lesser priced flat packs and each unit is held together with cam lock screws that are anchored into the wood with plastic inserts and not glue.PROS: Easy to assemble. Great way to utilize a small space and hide clutter. CONS: It's a customer assembled flat pack. More expensive than a desk or open shelf unit. One of the boards was cracked but did not affect the assembly or compromise the sturdiness. The doors on the both the cabinet and hutch DO NOT meet in the center and you cannot adjust the hinges to do so. There is about a 1 1/2 inch gap that you can easily see through. Pain in the butt to assemble. Packaging had fiberglass fibers and foam pieces everywhere so it caused a major cleanup effort after assembly so I decided to unpack the other pieces I purchased in the garage. What a deal...an AWESOME product for an AWESOME price..AND it arrived 2 weeks earlier than told to us! Very pleased! :) |
