I had to move it to another part of the room, so my sister and I moved it and the whole alignment of the cabinet doors was thrown off. It took some disassembly to get it realigned again, but it still didn't look 100%. Also there were tiny little knicks on the door where the paint had chipped off (that could have been my fault for propping it up against a bookshelf during construction) but the fact that it chips so easily may be an issue. Other than those issues, the desk looks really good, functions well, and I love the fact that those doors hide my office. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By starr photo momma (Kansas City, Missouri, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: South Shore Furniture Gascony Collection Computer Armoire, Spice Wood and Ebony (Kitchen) This is easy enough to assemble with an electric screw driver(took me less than 3 hours by myself), looks nice, and seems to be made well enough for laminate furniture. If you have trouble with the door lining up, level the unit via the leveling/adjustable feet. This completely fixed the problem for me. There is a slight 1/8" gap between the doors. I'm not sure if this is for ventilation or a defect. Not noticeable enough for me to care. There is a large cut out area in the backing for where the tower would sit. I use this desk for my laptop and external 21" monitor, and so I need to find some sort of shelf to make that tower space usable. The top shelf is adjustable and fits my laptop well. I do wish the panels on the front were actually a bit sturdier instead of thick cardboard. You can't tell unless you feel them, but I don't know about durability. This was packaged well for shipping. One of the boards that fits on the top to stop the doors was split where the factory... I put things together ALL the time, and I found the instructions to be the most detailed out of anything (furniture-wise) that I have assembled. The only thing is that there are a lot of parts, and although there are only 20 steps, there may be two to three parts per step. It is not the highest quality, but it is very nice looking and worth the price. My only complaint is that the doors have three hinges, and the middle hinges are right on the path of the keyboard when it is time to assemble the doors. You are going to have to be resourceful and figure how to screw them on. But, other than that, it really is a good looking piece, definitely recommend it. Hides all my computer junk perfectly! |
